Recruitment Agencies Services

I have been challenged quite a lot recently to explain my views on how agencies will be relevant & progress in the coming years. I was first asked if agencies would still be around in 2020. The realistic answer to that is “who knows?” Not who knows if agencies will be around and still be relevant in 2020, but who knows what will be relevant and current in 6 years’ time. The pace of change is such that it is often hard to see beyond 12 months.

What I can advise is the best way to stay current, and that’s to stay connected. When I talk to corporate hiring teams about what they will pay a fee for, the answer usually comes down to something we can’t do ourselves, or someone we can’t reach. That might mean unique relationships with candidates where a high degree of trust exists, or it might mean genuine specialist knowledge where the recruiter is uniquely placed to offer best advice.
In both these cases, I think we are coming down to the same things in terms of what agency recruiters should be focussing on right now:
1. Focus on a niche
2. Identify all the talent
3. Build relationships across the niche with hirers and candidates
4. Build a personal brand within the niche
5. Focus narrow (niche), spread your wings wide (geography)
6. Increase reach, network and knowledge daily
7. Add to the range of services billed for and on offer
